From the city to the mountain: start of the route

The Red Route begins in the historic center of Clusone, among medieval buildings and points of interest such as the Fanzago Astronomical Clock. After crossing the town, the route initially follows the path shared with the Green Route, then deviates towards Monte Colombina, tackling a more direct climb with a greater difference in altitude.

The trail crosses meadows and woods, up to the Chiesetta degli Alpini di Songavazzo, where it is possible to take a break. From here the climb along the Camasone ridge begins, with the landscape gradually opening up onto high-altitude pastures and views of the Val Seriana and Lake Iseo.

The climb to Monte Colombina is the most challenging section of the stage: the route is steep and requires good physical preparation. Once past the summit, the route continues along a ridge with a more regular slope, until reaching the Magnolini Refuge (1,613 m).

The refuge offers refreshment and overnight accommodation. This first stage, of significant length and altitude difference, introduces the more technical part of the Red Route, which continues in the subsequent stages with more severe and isolated environments.
